Deck Strengths

This deck is probably the most consistent as well as one of the few viable ways of farming Ishizu at level 40. The core of the deck is just the Unhappy Girl engine, and other parts can be replaced, making the deck highly flexible.

Deck Weaknesses

The deck is highly reliant on drawing either Rai-Mei and The Unhappy Girl within the first few turns, ideally alongside a defensive Trap. Statistically, the odds are in your favor, but there are times when you won't be able to draw them fast enough. Occasionally Ishizu will be able to pull an OTK combo early on using Rite of Spirit before you're able to field a defensive Trap. Both of these situations are very uncommon.

Deck Summary

As Ishizu is unable to field Monster removal or reliably flood the field early, she is susceptible to Unhappy Girl lockdown decks. By using The Unhappy Girl in combination with Tea's Holy Guard, we can lock her Monsters down, preventing them from attacking or switching position due to The Unhappy Girl's effect.

This deck revolves around either searching The Unhappy Girl with Rai-Mei or drawing her and then attacking with Holy Guard to prevent Ishizu's Monsters from doing anything. The main threats to watch out for are the OTK potential of Ishizu flooding the field later in the game with Rite of Spirit, which is particularly dangerous when combined with Gravekeeper's Oracle's effect that reduces the ATK of all your face-up monsters by 2000. As such, we'll also be packing several defensive traps to negate the potential of an OTK as well as protect us early if we don't draw The Unhappy Girl.

Once Gravekeeper's Oracle has been summoned, you can safely Tribute Summon Blue-Eyes White Dragon. Make sure not to Tribute The Unhappy Girl that has all of Ishizu's Monsters locked down, since Gravekeeper's Visionary can get over Blue-Eyes. You can also use this Unhappy Girl to Ritual Summon Relinquished on your last turn.

You won't need more than 1 defensive Trap set at a time. You'll likely need to set Spells when your hand gets too big. Make sure to save 1 slot or Set Murmur of the Forest, as this will be the first card you play in the last turn combo.

The final turn combo revolves around attacking directly using Secret Pass to the Treasure with Gravekeeper's Vassal powered up by Union Attack to deal 10k Effect Damage. Make sure to use Murmur of the Forest first to return Necrovalley to the hand and drop Gravekeeper's Vassal below 1000 ATK. Also, make sure Ishizu has one of her 2k ATK monsters face-up on the field for Relinquished to steal, otherwise you'll have to use Wonder Wand on it.

If you're forced to use Ready for Intercepting at any point in the game, make sure you flip that monster back face-up by attacking it with Unhappy Girl so you can steal it with Relinquished.

Also note that Gravekeeper's Shaman negates Rai-Mei's effect to search The Unhappy Girl.

Card Explanation

The Unhappy Girl's effect prevents any monster it battles with from declaring an attack or switching its position and prevents it from being destroyed by battle as long as it remains in face-up attack position, making it one of the best lockdown cards in the game when paired with Holy Guard, which allows you to attack your opponent without receiving Battle Damage. As soon as you draw her, being locking down Ishizu's monsters by attacking whatever has the highest ATK on the field. Ishizu will not attack into The Unhappy Girl unless she can deal lethal damage; you can prevent this by either boosting The Unhappy Girl's ATK through cards like Wonder Wand or saving defensive Traps like Windstorm of Etaqua.

Rai-Mei's effect allows you to search for a Level 2 or lower Light Monster when destroyed by battle. This allows us to search for The Unhappy Girl if we open with Rai-Mei. Note that Gravekeeper's Shaman will negate Rai-Mei's effect, since it activates in the Graveyard.

Ready for Intercepting allows you to switch one Spellcaster or Warrior Type monster into facedown defense position. Since all of Ishizu's monsters are Spellcasters, this will work on any of them, preventing OTKs.

Windstorm of Etaqua switches the battle positions of all of your opponent's monsters. This is another defensive Trap to prevent OTKs.

Run the 1 copy you are given.

Enchanted Javelin heals your LP when you are attacked by the same value as the attacking monster's ATK. This helps prevent lethal damage and again stops OTKs.

Only 1 copy is needed, although you can also replace Ready for Intercepting with additional copies.

Gravekeeper's Vassal's effect converts all Battle Damage to Effect Damage, which combos well with Union Attack. In your final turn before you deck out, Normal Summon Gravekeeper's Vassal and activate Secret Pass to the Treasures and 2 Union Attack to deal 10k Effect Damage directly. Make sure to activate Murmur of the Forest first to remove Necrovalley or else you won't be able to use Secret Pass.

Union Attack

Union Attack increases 1 monsters ATK during the Battle Phase by the combined ATK of your other monsters at the cost of the other monsters not being able to attack and the negation of battle damage. This condition can be ignored due to Gravekeeper's Vassal's effect.

2 copies is required to reach 10k damage; you can also run 1 copy with Spell Reclamation.

A high ATK Tribute monster. Blue-Eyes can be replaced with any other Tribute as long as you make sure your Ritual Monster is strong enough to compensate.

Relinquished is just here as an easy to summon Ritual Monster for additional Duel Assessment Score. Feel free to replace it with any other Ritual Monster, so long that it can reach 4650 ATK total when combined with Blue-Eyes (or whatever Tribute Monster you use). Make sure to leave a 2000 ATK monster face up for Relinquished to steal on your final turn.

Murmur of the Forest flips one of your opponent's monsters face-down and returns Field Spells to the hand. This allows you to get rid of Necrovalley on your last turn, since Gravekeeper's Shaman prevents Field Spells from being destroyed. Make sure to leave 1 2000 ATK monster face-up for Relinquished to steal.

Wonder Wand

Wonder Wand increases the ATK of a Spellcaster-Type Monster by 500. It can also be activated to send itself and the equipped monster to the Graveyard to draw 2 cards. This can be used to finish the farm 2 turns earlier by equipping it to The Unhappy Girl, as well as preventing lethal damage early on. It can also be used to boost Relinquished's ATK if there are no available 2000 ATK monsters on the field to steal.

Enemy Controller

Enemy Controller is a Quick-Play Spell that can be used to switch a monster to defense position. This can be used in place of Ready for Intercepting or Windstorm of Etaqua as defense against an OTK.

Security Orb can be used to switch an attacking monster into defense position. This can be used in place of Ready for Intercepting or Windstorm of Etaqua as defense against an OTK.

Sphere Kuriboh can be used to switch an attacking monster into defense position. This can be used in place of Ready for Intercepting or Windstorm of Etaqua as defense against an OTK.

Curse of Anubis switches all Effect Monsters to defense position. This can be used in place of Ready for Intercepting or Windstorm of Etaqua as defense against an OTK. Note that it also switches The Unhappy Girl to defense position and resets her effect, so you'll have to lock everything down again after use.

Shooting Star Bow - Ceal allows the equipped monster to attack your opponent directly at the cost of lowing 1000 ATK. If you don't own Secret Pass to the Treasures, you can run this Equip Spell instead. Note that you'll have to use Wonder Wand in addition to Relinquished stealing a 2000 ATK monster to overcome the attack drop.

Piranha Army's effect doubles any Battle Damage dealt when attacking directly. If you don't own Union Attack, run this instead of Gravekeeper's Vassal. This removes the need to run Murmur of the Forest, but you'll also receive 1000 fewer Assessment Score.

Gift of the Martyr

Gift of the Martyr sends one monster you own to the Graveyard to add its original ATK to another monster. If you don't own Union Attack, run this instead of Union Attack. Make sure not to use Relinquished with Gift of the Martyr, as it adds the original ATK (0 for Relinquished).

Blast Held by a Tribute destroys all attack position monsters and deals 1000 damage when a monster that was Tribute Summoned declares an attack. This can be used in place of Ready for Intercepting or Windstorm of Etaqua as defense against an OTK. Note that the damage is effect damage and does not prevent the 1000 extra Assessment Score from Victory by Effect Damage Only.
